Final Remarks

My top 5 blog posts and a brake down of my bog style and approach (Final Project)

As this class comes to its end lets make our last discussion together an interactive option filled experience with written, voice, or video options. I'd also like to say a big thank you to all of you who followed along and supported my blog, it really means a lot to feel that support.

So lets Talk About Style

When first given this ongoing assignment I was quite excited as much of university (especially in the business program) does not provide opportunity to express ourselves creatively. To taking advantage of this I let my own creativity heavilty influence my my branding. for a platform I used wix as I am very familiar with it. Some of this platforms bonuses are it can easily pare and connect to many different platforms and content allowing for more creative freedom within my blog.

Other things Wix allowed that other platforms such as instagram did not is styled font, line spacing and paragraph design. These features allowed me to keep a continuous theme throughout different posts (free creations) while using different graphic and social apps. It provided a cohesive feel that connected creativity with stability and brand recognition. For example, I intentionally chose a certain font for all my descriptions, a title style, beginning explanation and highlighted key topic points to provide this cohesive feel. These little details allowed my unique submissions to connect and flow in our different discussion. I also chose a colour pallet neutral enough too not seem busy and overwhelming but open enough that it allowed me to use many different hues and shades with some vibrance (its an almost peachy pallet). That is also why my logo is intentionally colourful.

Along with a cohesive calming colour scheme I wanted to provide a simple user-friendly website to minimize stress and confusion. I also added music to help bring a more personal, engaging, enjoyable, and colourful touch to my Wix page. Evaluation my bog I would also say my posts and themes cater to a young female audience. Much of what I discuss stems from my own personal experiance in business and reflects this perspective. I discusses issues business women face or even companies they may like. This is what I know and wrote. This blog depicts my voice over many different discussions and topics, the voice of a young female business student.

My Top 5 Posts (and why I made certain creative choices)

Again, choose your medium of preference. Listen to my explanations or read them below. The choice is yours. Create your own experience. The original posts are linked to the underlined text.

1. Did you Say Something?- Podcast or Written

I chose to respond to the discussion addressing how we communicate and speak effectively or ineffectively with a personal story in spoken and written word. The podcast I found to be the most effective way to convey this message as it allows the listener to hear my personal linguistic style through a method other than reading. More emotion and depth can be conveyed this way. Within the talk, I chose to bring out my personal faults in communication as I find it valuable to first identify them so you can effectively change or add to them. Next, I outlined the positives of my style and how this method can reach specific people in certain situations more effectively. The personal touch of adding my stories and my voice to my post helped convey the personal feel I wanted my blog to have, I specifically left the colours on the page at a minimum to bring out the colours in my story and voice.

2.Silenced by Fear. -Written and Graphic

The style choice for this post was a written discussion and graphic. The reason I chose both of these was I found the written word the most effective way to address this topic. This topic of being silenced by fear in the workplace and how it doesn't help it hinders. This allowed me to share my story and add topic-focused quotes to emphasize the message I was trying to get across. This freedom also allowed me to talk about where my story could have been different if I had utilized three helpful points discussed in class. The graphic helped emphasize the importance of these three points. Even if the reader were to simply look at the graphic its photo and directions they could come out with something. This was the goal. This also allowed me to tie into my brand and colour scheme (adding a more cohesive feel).

3.Gender Power struggles TikTok video-Viral Tik Tok or Video Discussion

For this blog post, I decided to go in a different direction. I had recently downloaded TikTok and was interested in seeing how a video discussing a topic in class from my personal perspective would relate to the public. The prompt given in class was on power and one of the categories was gender (gravitating to particular roles), so that is what I chose. I wanted to discuss how women aren't always taken seriously by men when they are leaders of a group. Often women are stereotyped and because of this, they end up doing extra work to compensate. Posting the video on TikTok versus simply writing it down made it an open discussion with people from all over the world. This post had the best outcome I really could have hoped for as currently, it has 113.2K people involved in active discussion. This specific medium style best brought out the importance of this discussion, adding a new aspect to my blog while also maintaining my style, voice, and theme.

4. My Passion - Speech and Graphic

This post was all about writing a speech on anything we would like. Immediately the first thing that came to my mind was photography as I run my own business. I intentionally used descriptive language to deliver my message to the reader. In addition (like the theme of my blog) I added my voice and experience into the message to provide personal elements. Lastly, I chose for my post to be framed around this final call to action. A well-delivered speech will cause you to feel something strong by the end, that was my goal. When planning how it would look on my blog I added a GIF that featured one main colour from my logo. Much like a picture this GIF is shaped and created as the person reads the speech. This tied in my theme and colours to my blog portfolio.

5. Crisis Plan Check List- Animated Checklist and Discussion

For this discussion on crisis planning, I thought about how many company crisis plans are detailed to staff, management, and higherups in paperwork, lists, and agendas. I thought it would be fun to spin off this and create a company crisis plan checklist for the pandemic situation. All companies are currently facing the threat of the pandemic and most well-run companies will have implemented these ideas to some extent (it makes this post relatable). The checklist shows things of top priority, things the company is doing well and is currently working on. I chose to follow my blog's colour scheme when creating this GIF to tie my themes together. In designing the GIF I enlarged my title highlighting the key topics to emphasize them and intentionally labeled the two topics I wished to talk about as ongoing. This brought the right attention to the points I wanted to get across for my discussion that followed.
