Using or Abusing Power

Each of us has the ability to choose how we will use the power we have been given or earned and our decision can change our relationships, work environment, and success. (diagram)

Power is always dangerous. Power attracts the worst and corrupts the best. -Edward Abbey

When we use our power in positive ways to build our environment up instead of self-seeking profit we will see the benefits create happier workers, authentic communication, and strong relationships. One is less likely to abuse their power when they aren't selectively seeking personal gain.

Patience is power. Patience is not an absence of action; rather it is "timing" it waits on the right time to act, for the right principals and in the right way." -Fulton J. Sheen

Understanding our Power

You probably don't even realize how much power you actually have. We need to realize our power and acknowledge how we have been using it to bring about change within business, community, and politics. my challenge to you is to identify one area you have power in and try to understand how you currently utilize this power and why. Perhaps think of one way you can challenge yourself to change in that area or view things from the perspective of those under your authority.
