Definsive behaviour
Superiority and Equality as it relates to defensive behavioural attitudes and actions. (meme)
Superiority
This meme is describing a sinerio that many of us have faced in the workplace. It's when a manager or someone in a higher job title try to tell you how to do something their way when you know more about it. As a worker you end up trying to defend yourself and the way you do things as you feel you know more or know better. Still the superior above you thinks you should just listen as they have more power and authority and a bigger title. This continues a cycle of defensive behaviour throughout the workplace.
“Getting defensive doesn't hide the fact that you know you could have done better. Stop putting your energy into your excuses.” ― Tony Curl
Equality
Equality over superiority in the workplace can help eliminate defensive behaviour. When a manager values each employee and their skills, acknowledging employee experience and working together to understand each other. This will help tasks be done efficiently and effectively as rank is not the focus but teamwork. Good leaders build community, not walls.
